About me...

Welcome to my Webpage! My name is Susan Salmon. I am an English teacher. I love teaching languages, and I have been sharing my knowledge and experience with my students for over 30 years.

I started learning English when I was 12, and after graduating from an English academy, the director asked me to start teaching. I was so delighted with the idea of teaching children and adults at the age of 15. I worked there for about ten years. After graduating from high school, I started learning French and I found it amazing I could speak, translate and listen to songs in three languages.

I got married at the age of 19, and my husband and I went to live in Austria, where he started a master’s degree program in Ophthalmology. I had no clue about the German language so I had to learn it! When we arrived in Ecuador, I continued teaching English, but this time at a German school, where I kept practicing the German language.

I love teaching languages that is why I keep learning to keep updated and incorporate new techniques and ways to assist my students. As I always say “A good teacher is the one who has chosen to teach as a vocation, who engages body and soul, takes risks, questions himself and reflects; who continually nourishes with the pleasure of reading, writing, speaking and listening".

I got my Degree of Master in Pedagogy of the National and International Languages with a mention in English at Universidad Casa Grande. I was awarded Cum Laude and I am willing to get the best out of it. After the three semesters of the Master's program, I must say, I have learned new techniques that have heightened my ideas about teaching.

This portfolio will enlighten my teaching philosophy, the courses I have taken and my experience as a language teacher in an engaging and accessible way.
